Arrival and reception in Ben Gurion airport by a French speaking guide. Transfer to Tel Aviv hotel. Visit the old city of Jaffa. Return for dinner at the hotel.
Tour of the white city – Tel Aviv, including the Carmel and Sarona markets, Rothchild Blvd. Habima theater with lunch stop. Return for dinner at the hotel.
Caesarea, once the Roman capital of the region. See the excavations of the Crusaders’ city and the Roman port, aqueduct and the amphitheater that has been restored to its former glory as a concert venue. Proceed via Mount Carmel to Haifa for a panoramic view of the Haifa bay and the golden domed Bahai Shrine and gardens. Dinner at the hotel in Tiberias.
Visit the ancient town of Magdala and Capernaum to visit the remains of the 2nd century synagogue. Stop at Tabgha, the site of the Miracle of Fish and Loaves, and visit the Church of Multiplication with its 4th century mosaic floor. Proceed to Mount of Beatitudes, the place where Jesus delivered the sermon on the mount. Return and dinner at the hotel.
Tour of the city of Nazareth. Travel southward to Beit-Shean/Scythopolis, the most magnificent archeological site in Israel, located at the strategic juncture of the Jezreel and Jordan valleys. Like Jericho, it has been almost continuously occupied throughout history. We will visit the fountain of Elizeu, the ruins of the walls of the time of Josue, the brave fig tree of Zaccheus and Mount of temptations, where we will board the cable car and go up the 164 steps to the monastery. To the east of Jericho along the Jordan River Valley (Queser El Yehud) is the Israeli side of Bethany Beyond the Jordan.
Drive to Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the city; visit the Church of All Nations, dome of ascension, church of Dormition, church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, Church of Pater Noster, Church of Dominus Flevit and the Church of St Mary Magdalene. We stroll through the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed on the night before his arrest. Next, journey to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus and King David. Visit Beit Sahour in Bethlehem. Visit the Church of the Nativity, built over the cave thought to be the spot where Jesus was born. Visit the Chapel of the Milk Grotto. Free time in Bethlehem bazar. Return and dinner at the hotel followed going to see the show ‘Sounds and Lights on the Tower of David’ and return to the hotel.
Enter the Old City; walk along the Via Dolorosa and the oriental Bazaar to visit the Church of Holy Sepulcher. Walk through the Cardo, the ancient roman road; visit the Jewish and Christian quarters; view the Temple Mount; visit the tomb of king David. Return and dinner at the hotel.
Travel to Masada, the Jewish fortress and UNESCO world heritage site, perched beautifully over the Dead Sea. Then visit Qumran, the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Arrival at Arava border, meet our representative and transfer to our hotel in Aqaba.
We spend the morning elaxing in Aqaba Around noon excursion to Jordan’s biggest and most magnificent Desert, Wadi Rum, which became famous through the movie “Lawrence of Arabia”, we embark on a Jeep tour to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Overnight under the stars in Wadi Rum.
Early morning, we drive to Petra; the lost city in the middle of nowhere with its huge facades carved into the rocks that will take our breath away around each corner. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabateans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome. Petra has been featured in Hollywood blockbusters such as “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and ” The Mummy Returns”. Beyond Al Khazneh we are surrounded on both sides by hundreds of Petra’s curved and built structures, soaring temples, elaborate royal tombs, a curved Nabatean theater (seating 3,000 people), large and small houses, burial chambers, banquet halls, water channels and Reservoirs, bathes, monumental staircases, cultic installations, arched gates, public buildings and paved streets.
Today after breakfast, we will have a spiritual tour. We visit Madaba “The City of Mosaics” and the city of Christianity, with very impressive Greek Orthodox ruins and churches and Dozens of beautiful Mosaics. The Mosaic of the map that shows the Middle East is the most important and the most beautiful, it is located in St. George Church. After Madaba drive onwards to Mt. Nebo from where Moses overlooked the Holy Land; here we will have the chance to look through Moses’ eyes. Afterwards drive to visit one of the Jordanian handicraft shops, whereby guests will look over the shoulders of mosaic art workers creating unique and traditional styles with the Byzantine influence. Afterwards drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. At 400 meters (1,312 ft.) below the sea level, it is one of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the world where the salinity is 10 times more than the other seas and oceans. Instead of swimming one must only lie on his back and float on the water. Accommodation at the lowest point on earth.
Transfer to Allenby border and cross into Israel. Return to hotel in Tel Aviv and dinner.
Free day in Tel Aviv including a dinner back home in a restaurant, including a glass of wine, mineral water or beer. Return to the hotel.
Transfer to the airport and return flight to Montreal.
