The capital is divided into two parts by its river, the Liffey: the north bank, considered more popular, will show you the grand civic monuments such as the General Post Office (GPO) dominating O’Connell Street, the main thoroughfare of the north of the city, the Four Courts, the old Customs House, and following the river, you will arrive at Phoenix Park, the largest urban park in Europe. The south bank is more sophisticated, with its elegant Georgian squares and multicolored doors. This part of the city is also lively with students from Trinity College, the oldest university in Ireland, whose library houses the famous Book of Kells. To the southwest is the medieval quarter where you will see Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Finally, you will pass by Dublin Castle.
