Although it is known as the birthplace of Confederation, Canada’s smallest province waited six years before joining in 1873. Visiting it helps to understand why it was left behind. Is the lobster really better on Prince Edward Island? Drive across the 12.9 km Confederation Bridge, through the red potato fields, along the beaches and seashores, and to one of the pretty fishing villages, where you’ll find the answer. A certain Anne may have made it famous, but Prince Edward Island offers much more than green gables.
