In May 1855, Louis-Joseph Papineau named his estate “MonteBello” and in 1878, the municipality was officially founded. Montebello is certainly a must-see at least once in a lifetime. In addition to the largest log cabin in the world, the Fairmont Le Château Montebello, you can visit the Manoir-Papineau National Historic Site that belonged to Louis-Joseph Papineau. Today, there are many specialties and local products that are worth the detour since Montebello is also a village that knows how to please the gourmets with the Economusée Chocomotive, the Cheese Factory Montebello, the Brewers of Montebello and many restaurants each more tempting than the other.
