Exceptional flora and fauna in an environment of vertical dropoffs, canyons and coral heads. You'll spot barracuda, groupers - including the famous Nassau grouper -, triggerfish, turtles, hammer and reef sharks. San Salvador has a multitude of diving sites for all levels, from beginner to experienced diver. You'll appreciate the beautifully preserved coral reef, water at an average temperature of 27°C, exceptional visibility (beyond 30 m / 100 ft in many cases) and a fascinating variety of underwater life on an impressive drop-off that surrounds San Salvador. The San Salvador sites are within a protected marine area. A few examples of scuba diving spots: Doctor John's": a vast coral garden on the reef, with tunnels and crevasses. "Telephone Pole": a sandy bottom at 12m (40ft) leding to a "tunnel" that comes out at depth of 20m (65ft) in the heart of the wall. "Runway 10": a wide vertical wall with a step at 14m (45ft).

Shabby property

We love the team at Columbus Isle. It also has a great beach and wonderful activities - daily off site snorkeling and all day water skiing. However, the property itself is very dated and the facilities are very worn. For example the pool seating and bedding is stained and worn. The rooms are very dated and shabby. My shower wouldn't drain, the soap container was broken and falling off. I don't recommend going until they update it, particularly as it is priced similarly to other properties. There is also no true opportunity to upgrade. This is a shame because the staff is great and the vibe is really fun.

Family enjoyed

Great vacation. The beach is great, water clearer than i ever experienced, lots of sporting activities. Loved the room setup. I sailed often: safe cove/bay, wind force 1-2, small waves. Went on 2 free snorkeling boat rides - very nice. Can also paddle board and kayak. Water is clear and clean, absolutely no seaweed. The sand is slightly rough (shells) and the beach slope is intense, so is not great for small children as you lose footing 4-5 feet in. Some cute fish around (but be aware of possible barracuda sightings) Food was great, good variety, pleasing everyone. Able to get chairs always and umbrella often at pool and beach anytime, but resort was at 60% capacity when we went - i can understand that it may become a problem at full capacity. Weather was fantastic for the whole duration of our trip. Drinks were not recognized brands but better than other resorts (including clubmeds). Only negative was absence of A/C in common areas and just sufficient in rooms (i would have loved more power). Would absolutely return to this resort. Perfect stay!

This is THE vacation spot! The ocean is the most beautiful I have ever seen and the experience was absolutely incredible. The constant entertainment and things to do were definitely a highlight. I will say though, the best part of it all was the GOs. Everyone had contagious energy and smiles. I spent most of the day, every day at the water ski and the whole water ski staff was perfect. They were all super fun and made waiting to ski at the dock enjoyable. Especially I have to mention Leandro, he was kind all of the time, had so much patience and was extremely friendly. He is a golden employee. Overall, one of the best experiences I have had. I will be back!

Columbus Isle, circling the drain....

i have been to Columbus Isle many times. I come for the beach and the clear water. With some exceptions, it feels like the staff is going down hill. Staff at reception were inexperienced in hospitality and had little to no interest in resolving issues. Food servers at Christopher's give off a vibe of misery....Housekeeping (Sloan) is great, as is Suejit and his staff at La Pinta....There were a few bartenders, Lucky and Livingston who were nice, others appeared to be serving out a prison sentence...CDV, More, was barely visible and never made even the smallest effort to greet us/check in on our experience....Large upholtstered chaise loungers near the pool are beyond disgusting! Beach is frequently only half cleaned, drinks from the night before are still out at 10a the next morning....i love this location, but really feel like no one cares and it will close soon. i hope this is not the case, but the feeling of neglect is palpable. too bad, i will always have fond memories!
