Introduction of Mandatory ETIAS Permit for Travels to Europe
Starting at the end of 2026, every Canadian traveler planning to visit Europe will be required to possess an ETIAS permit. This is the European Travel Information and Authorization System, implemented by the European Union.
For more information about this permit, you can visit the official website at the following address: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en.
Please note that this permit costs 7 euros per person, and the process can take up to 30 days for approval.
It is also mandatory to have a passport that remains valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from Europe. Without this, entry at the European border will be denied.
Itinerary:
Upon your arrival in Budapest, check into your hotel and then head out for a first stroll in the Pest district, particularly around Váci utca and Vörösmarty Square. End the evening with dinner in the Jewish Quarter.
Start with a visit to the Hungarian Parliament, then walk along the Danube to see the Shoes on the Danube Memorial. In the afternoon, discover St. Stephen’s Basilica and its dome. At the end of the day, enjoy an aperitif on a boat at sunset.
Explore Buda Hill with Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, and Matthias Church. Walk back down via Gellért Hill. In the evening, discover the atmosphere of a ruin bar.
Enjoy the morning in the Széchenyi or Gellért baths. In the afternoon, stroll along Andrássy Avenue, visit the Opera, and admire several Art Nouveau buildings. End with a break at the New York Café.
Stroll through Városliget (City Park) and visit Vajdahunyad Castle. Then choose a museum, such as the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts or the House of Terror. In the evening, experience a nighttime cruise on the Danube.
Take the train to the charming town of Szentendre. Stroll through the alleys, visit the galleries and craft shops. Return to Budapest for dinner.
Start with a visit to the Jean-Talon Market, then relax at the Parc de l’Île Sainte-Hélène. In the evening, attend a folkloric show or a classical concert.
Enjoy a day according to your wishes: relaxation at the Rudas Baths, hiking in the Buda hills, or tasting Hungarian wines.
Before your departure, take a last stroll along the Danube and buy some souvenirs.
