Introduction of Mandatory ETIAS Permit for Travels to Europe

Starting at the end of 2026, every Canadian traveler planning to visit Europe will be required to possess an ETIAS permit. This is the European Travel Information and Authorization System, implemented by the European Union.

Please note that this permit costs 7 euros per person, and the process can take up to 30 days for approval.

It is also mandatory to have a passport that remains valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from Europe. Without this, entry at the European border will be denied.

Arrival in Funchal

Funchal & Monte
  • Start your stay with the discovery of Funchal.
  • Stroll through the Lavradores Market, visit the old town, then head up to the Monte district to admire the view over the bay.
  • Option to descend in a wicker toboggan for a typically Madeiran experience.
Day 3
West Coast: Câmara de Lobos & Cabo Girão
  • Set off to discover the west coast of the island.
  • Stop at the picturesque fishing village of Câmara de Lobos.
  • Continue to the spectacular Cabo Girão, one of Europe’s highest cliffs.

Pico do Arieiro & free time
  • For the earliest risers, departure toward Pico do Arieiro to admire a sunrise above the clouds — an unforgettable moment.

Return
  • Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy one last moment in Funchal.
  • Drive to the airport, return your rental car, then return flight.
