Introduction of Mandatory ETIAS Permit for Travels to Europe
Starting at the end of 2026, every Canadian traveler planning to visit Europe will be required to possess an ETIAS permit. This is the European Travel Information and Authorization System, implemented by the European Union.
For more information about this permit, you can visit the official website at the following address: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en.
Please note that this permit costs 7 euros per person, and the process can take up to 30 days for approval.
It is also mandatory to have a passport that remains valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from Europe. Without this, entry at the European border will be denied.

Departure from your hotel in Porto for a full day in the Douro Valley.
Set off by minibus to discover the world’s first demarcated wine region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will traverse fascinating landscapes where terraced vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see.
Highlights include:
- Visit to a family-owned quinta (wine estate): learn about the winemaking process and taste several Douro wines.
- Traditional dinner in the valley (included).
- Cruise on the Douro River: enjoy a unique perspective on the vine-covered banks, from Peso da Régua or Pinhão to Vila Nova de Gaia.
Breathe the fresh valley air and admire the exceptional panoramas offered by the natural viewpoints.
At the end of the day, return to your hotel in Porto. Evening at leisure.

In the morning, depart from your accommodation for a walking tour entitled “The Secrets of Porto.”
A unique experience in Porto: explore its narrow alleyways and impressive staircases, feel the magic of the historic centre and the warmth of its inhabitants, and discover hidden viewpoints while embracing the “tripeiro” spirit. At the end of the tour, enjoy a 50-minute cruise on the Douro River to admire the six bridges that connect Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia.

- Depart by minibus to explore the charming and picturesque town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will visit the Pena National Palace (admission not included), a true fairy-tale castle with vibrant colors and eclectic architecture, one of Sintra’s most iconic attractions. You will have free time for dinner (not included) in the city center, where a wide selection of local restaurants allows you to savor Portuguese cuisine. Take this opportunity to stroll through the narrow streets and explore the craft shops.
- Continue to Cascais, a former fishing port that has become a sophisticated and elegant seaside resort on the Lisbon coast. Nestled in front of a bay lined with fine sandy beaches, pine trees, and sumptuous villas, Cascais was once the summer destination of Portuguese nobility and European royalty. The return to Lisbon takes place via Estoril.

- Fado evening: a nighttime outing with a Fado performance and drinks at one of the restaurants in Alfama or Bairro Alto. Fado is inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. This Lisbon urban song has become the musical symbol of both the city and the country. The word “Fado” literally means “destiny” and is regarded as Lisbon’s version of the blues, characterized by an emotionally charged voice and the Portuguese guitar. Each performance expresses “saudade,” that profound longing for what is lost.
