Switzerland is the perfect blend of tradition and contemporary flair. But, perhaps most importantly, Switzerland is the ultimate skier’s paradise. Who among us hasn’t dreamed of a getaway in St. Moritz—a ski destination that has been popular since the 1860s—or in Jungfrau, where the very first downhill ski races took place?
Journeying to the summits by cog railway also lends this destination a bit of vintage charm. In contrast to its old-time feel, however, Jungfrau boasts highly modern and efficient facilities. Its lifts, specifically the gondolas and chairlifts, are state of the art, and its transportation options are incredibly practical.
Switzerland also features ultra-comfortable accommodations of the highest quality, impeccably groomed runs, and dedicated instructors who are among the best in the world. All of this, plus the most astounding views of the Swiss Alps, awaits skiers of any calibre—from beginner to Olympic-level. Add to this some culinary specialties made to fill up your tummy after a day in the great outdoors and you’ve the ski vacation of your dreams!
What made me become a group leader for Gendron Travel? My passion for skiing, especially with others. Skiing with other enthusiasts is pure happiness. I don’t consider myself to be a connoisseur when choosing a destination (I have as much fun in the Laurentians than in the Rockies or the USA!) but I’ve had the opportunity to try different types of skiing: catski, heliski, backcountry skiing and ski touring… what a chance! Whether I find myself skiing the Alps, or in Japan, the Rockies or in Alaska, the fun of skiing is sharing it with others. I also believe that we are better as a group; we cheer each other, we widen our comfort zone, we surpass ourselves. Leading groups of skiers in my favorite stations offer me all this: we have fun and we share great moments on the mountain.
