"Ever since I was a little girl, I had always dreamed of skiing in Switzerland. I used to watch the World Cup on T.V. and think that was the one and only place true place in the world where you could
enjoy some real skiing. My dreams came true several years later… and, when I finally made it to a Swiss mountaintop, I was lucky enough to be in Verbier with a bunch of my Swiss friends who knew the area inside and out. I was completed mesmerized. It was so much more than I had ever dreamed of.

Anyone as fascinated with mountains as I am has to agree that being in the heart of the Alps is pure bliss. Not only for the skiing itself, but for the breathtaking views as well—endless peaks, larger than life. And then there’s the sheer fact that Verbier, which is part of the Les 4 Vallées ski area, is incredibly immense. A seemingly endless array of runs and tons of off-piste terrain, complemented by superb mountain restaurants and quaint villages scattered throughout the base of the slopes. And then, of course, there are the vast open spaces where you are free to carve turns as wide or as short as you like.

The best part of it all is that it’s in Switzerland— efficient, polite Switzerland, where the lifts are of exceptional quality and incredibly fast, where the signage and piste maps are easy to understand and where everyone is always more than happy to help you find your way or suggest a run you might enjoy.

As an added bonus, the town of Verbier is as quaint as can be, with its pedestrian streets and log cabin buildings. In addition to the tiny bakeries, adorable cafés, quaint tearooms and a collection or restaurants and hotels, you’ll also find numerous exclusive, high-end boutiques (Watch out, though, or you could easily make a serious dent in your budget!).

When it comes to sports, Verbier is a favoured location for major freeride, mountain biking and ultra-trail competitions: it is truly a sporting hub, and a year-round gathering spot for athletes.

Let’s not forget that Verbier is, first and foremost, all about skiing at its absolute best, offering magnificent runs for every skill level and taste, meandering greens, wide open blues and reds, and black sectors where you definitely want to hold on to your hat (or ski helmet!) and go down one turn at a time.

In sunny weather, head to the open, high-altitude sectors. You’ll literally feel on top of the world in these immense snowfields. Enjoy it—because there’s certainly nothing like this back home!
