A career policeman for nearly 30 years, I joined the Gendron Travel team in 2015 after being won over by the customer experience on a ski trip to Western Canada. The group experience – or turnkey travel – has made me an unconditional fan of guided travel. Now retired since 2019, my wife Dora and I have the opportunity to accompany you on trips with Gendron Travel’s different departments. Having discovered several destinations around the world, whether skiing, cruising or enjoying land tours, be assured that we will be at your disposal to help you experience an unforgettable holiday while building lasting memories. Follow us on Facebook at @DoraetAlain. We look forward to seeing you on one of our group departures!

When Alexandre Bilodeau attacked the course for his final round at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, he had already made his mark in the world of skiing. When he became the first Canadian to win the famous gold medal at home, he scored for an entire people. From one end of the country to the other, he raised pride and passion. To win this medal, he learned that it took determination and courage, and it was his brother Frédéric with cerebral palsy who taught him. In February 2014, he flew to Sochi, his last Olympic Games, where he successfully defended his Olympic title, becoming the first Canadian double Olympic champion in freestyle skiing. The 2013-2014 season was his last career. Alexandre has taken on new challenges by completing a BA in Accounting at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University and aims to become a Chartered Accountant.

What made me become a group leader for Gendron Travel? My passion for skiing, especially with others. Skiing with other enthusiasts is pure happiness. I don’t consider myself to be a connoisseur when choosing a destination (I have as much fun in the Laurentians than in the Rockies or the USA!) but I’ve had the opportunity to try different types of skiing: catski, heliski, backcountry skiing and ski touring… what a chance! Whether I find myself skiing the Alps, or in Japan, the Rockies or in Alaska, the fun of skiing is sharing it with others. I also believe that we are better as a group; we cheer each other, we widen our comfort zone, we surpass ourselves. Leading groups of skiers in my favorite stations offer me all this: we have fun and we share great moments on the mountain.

My mother once told me I was born wearing skis… and I’m practically certain it’s true! Ski instructor since 1983 (CSIA), I went on my first ski trip in 1985 to La Plagne and Val Thorens and, since then, I’ve been on nearly one ski trip each year: Colorado, Utah, California, Montana, Alberta, Chile, Switzerland, Germany and, of course, British Columbia. In the 1990s, I’ve added ski patroller and group leader with Gendronski to the list. This year marks my 5th season to Big White where it will be a pleasure to welcome you!

For the pleasure of skiing

At the age of 5, Jean-Luc was introduced to the world of skiing by his father. Every Saturday, they left the municipality of Valleyfield to go to the Laurentians. What a pleasure to discover sliding on the Jack Rabbit track of Mont Avila! Over the years, this pleasure of skiing becomes a passion.

Ski patroller, station manager, equipment salesman, teacher, ski school operator, instructor trainer and group coach in the Alps become his activities of choice. With the accumulation of all these years to live these professional experiences, he discovers a common denominator: the pleasure of making skiing love. Jean-Luc loves to share his knowledge and contribute to unforgettable sliding experiences.

In short, his pleasure is directly related to the satisfaction of people who experience sliding with him. Since the 1980s, he has been accompanying groups in the Alps. A loyal clientele has made him repeat himself from year to year. He now has the chance to add an accomplice, an accomplice of choice, his son Jean-François who shares their motto: to make an unforgettable skiing experience.

My passion for skiing and travel is not new… it’s 30 years old to be precise. First of all, as a patrolman, I then reached level 3 of the alliance of ski instructors in Canada and then became a specialist columnist with TVA, Météo Média, several radio stations, publications and specialized websites. As a group leader I had the chance to visit beautiful mountains on three continents which allowed me to meet fantastic people who, like you and me, love skiing, share their passion and discover (and sometimes rediscover) the wonderful destinations offered by Voyages Gendron. What turns me on the most and motivates me year after year is to see this little light in the eyes of people when together we find ourselves facing a grandiose mountain landscape or after a descent where we have surpassed ourselves.
